WOMEN DON'T NEED TO BE PROTECTED
RATHER NEED TO BE EMPOWERED.
-Adv. Surabhi Sankhla
Another name for Goddess Durga,
Aarya justifies her name as a true warrior.
15 year old Aarya choudhary
specializes in karate and takes down
her enemies with her swift lethal moves.
Be it international, National or district
level, Aarya went on to make her mark
as a young and upcoming Karateka
winning medals and hearts all way long.
Seeing her elder brother practice
karate, intrigued a 3 year Aarya's mind
and attracted her towards this sport. In
the past twelve years, Aarya has earned
more than 50 National Medals and
aspires to represent India at the
Olympics.
In a conversation with our editor
Surabhi Sankhla, Aarya's proud mother
Mrs. Ritu Choudhary tells us how she
wanted her daughter to become a
fearless woman both mentally and
physically. As Aarya found her passion in
Karate her parents have constantly
motivated her to achieve greater
heights.
In the conservative backdrop of the
country, sending her only daughter to
play a merciless sport depicts the
change perception of the society where
a woman is empowered rather than
protected. With emerging stories of
athletes like Aarya, we hope that society
sees combat sports not merely as a
defence for women but more as a choice
of sport for them.
