Lala Lajpatrai Colleges Bridge the Gap Between Legal Education and Careers
Mumbai, August 29, 2026: With the legal profession rapidly expanding into technology, finance, cybersecurity and data protection, understanding where law can lead has become as important as studying the law itself. Addressing this changing landscape, Lala Lajpatrai College of Law and Lala Lajpatrai College of Commerce & Economics (Autonomous) successfully concluded their two-day Bridge Course, “Career Orientation in Law and Cyber-Forensics,” on August 29
Held on August 22 and 29, the programme offered students practical exposure to legal education, emerging areas of law and the diverse career opportunities shaping the profession.
The concluding session opened with the National Anthem and State Song, followed by the traditional lamp lighting and garlanding of the portrait of Shri Lala Lajpatrai Ji. The programme was attended by Chairman Dr. Kamal Gupta, Trustee Dr. Sunil Gupta, Dr. Asha Agarwal, members of the Student Council and Academic Dean Dr. Neelam Arora.
The session featured Adv. Nalini Mishra, International Arbitration Lawyer and Partner, Singhania & Co. LLP, as the resource person. Ms. Antara Thorat, Assistant Professor, Lala Lajpatrai College of Law, introduced her and highlighted her professional experience. Adv. Mishra was felicitated by Dr. Keval Ukey, Principal, Lala Lajpatrai College of Law.
Taking students beyond conventional career paths, Adv. Mishra explored opportunities in Corporate Law, Banking and Finance, Taxation, Insolvency and Bankruptcy, IPR, Labour and Employment Law, Cyber Law, Compliance and Contract Management. She also highlighted emerging fields including Legal Technology, Data Protection, FinTech Law, Cyber-Forensics, Arbitration and Mediation.
The discussion also covered legal education pathways, internships, professional skills and career planning, helping students understand how to prepare for an evolving legal market. In her keynote address, Dr. Harmeet Kaur Bhasin, Principal, Lala Lajpatrai College of Commerce & Economics, emphasised the growing relevance of legal knowledge for commerce students.
An interactive Q&A session allowed students to seek guidance on education and career choices. Prof. Dr. Munmy Baruah, Professor, Lala Lajpatrai College of Commerce & Economics, proposed the Vote of Thanks.
The successful conclusion of the Bridge Course reaffirmed the institutions’ focus on interdisciplinary, industry-oriented and career-focused learning, helping students connect classroom knowledge with the opportunities emerging across law and its allied fields.
