Assembly Elections 2022: Final Results and Party Vote Shares in 5 States

In the 2022 Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came out on top, winning four of the five states that went to the polls. The Congress, on the other hand, suffered a crushing defeat, losing power in Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh, as well as Punjab, to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

The AAP won a landslide win in Punjab, unseating the ruling Congress and reducing the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) to a single-digit vote share.

Despite a strong opposition from the Samajwadi Party, the BJP was able to retain power in Uttar Pradesh, but with a loss of over seats.

The BJP improved its performance in Manipur and Goa, where the Congress had emerged as the single-largest party in 2017. While the saffron party won 32 seats in the 60-member Manipur Assembly, it only won 20 seats in the 40-seat Goa Assembly.

Even though Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami lost his seat in Khatima, the BJP won with a comfortable margin in Uttarakhand.
