Shunya Se Shikhar Tak :The Journey of Monish R. Salunke
From a Dream to a Flute Artist
My name is Monish R. Salunke, and my journey is a story of passion, persistence, music, education, and the courage to build my own identity.

I was born on 14 December 2003 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. During my childhood, I was deeply inspired by my father. He plays the flute as a hobby, and as a child, I listened to him playing. The sound of the flute continues to create a special connection within me.
As I grew older, my curiosity about the flute became stronger. I wanted to understand the instrument, learn how to play it, and create the same kind of beautiful melodies I used to hear from my father.
A Self-Taught Flute Artist
One of the most special things about my journey is that I have never joined any formal flute classes or a music institute to learn the flute. Everything I know about playing the flute comes through self-learning, continuous practice, observation, experimentation, and dedication.
I learn by listening to music, trying different melodies, understanding the instrument through practice, making mistakes, and correcting myself. There is no fixed teacher or classroom guiding me. The flute itself is my teacher, and practice is my classroom.
What begins as inspiration from my father gradually becomes a passion, and that passion becomes my profession.
Balancing Education and Music
Alongside my musical journey, I pursued my education and completed my B.Sc. Agriculture from K. K. Wagh College, Nashik. Even while studying, I continued practising and developing myself as an artist. Over time, I gained more confidence and performed at weddings, corporate events, birthdays, celebrations, and private occasions.
With more than seven years of experience, every performance teaches me something new and helps me grow as a musician.
My Journey at Gateway Hotel, Nashik
Today, one of the important milestones in my journey is my association with Gateway Hotel, Nashik, where I perform as a flute artist.
One of the experiences I value most is performing during the evening rituals at the hotel and creating a peaceful, Krishna-inspired ambience through my flute. The soulful sound of the flute during the evening atmosphere creates a calm, spiritual, and welcoming experience for the guests.
For me, these moments are especially meaningful because the flute has a natural connection with Lord Krishna. Being able to create that ambience through my music gives my performance a deeper emotional meaning.
Becoming a Professional Artist
As my experience grew, I started performing at different types of events, including weddings, corporate events, birthdays, celebrations, and private occasions.
Every event brought a different audience and a different challenge. Sometimes, the goal was to create a peaceful atmosphere; sometimes, it was to add energy and emotion to a celebration.
These experiences helped me understand that being an artist is not only about playing music well. It is also about understanding the atmosphere, connecting with people, being professional, and creating a memorable experience.

Discovering the Flute
Over the years, I dedicate myself to learning and improving my flute playing. I spend countless hours practising, understanding melodies, working on my technique, and developing my own musical expression.
The journey is not always easy. Becoming a performing artist requires patience and consistency. There are moments of doubt and challenges, but every performance and every practice session teaches me something new.
With more than seven years of experience as a flute artist, music continues to be something I love and something I build my life around.
Looking Towards the Future
I envision expanding my flute music to larger platforms. I want to continue performing, collaborating with talented musicians, reaching new audiences, and creating beautiful musical experiences.
Looking back on my journey, I feel proud that something that started as my father’s hobby blossomed into my passion, all without formal flute training.
