Café Social
Movie Review
Meghna Gulzar's' Chhapaak' is inspired by the story of real-life acid attempt survivor, Laxmi Agarwal, who
has become a symbol of forte and revelation for countless maidens. The film 'Chhapak', which gives a message
to the society, is the story of acid attack victim Lakshmi Aggarwal, who is shown in the movie by the name of
Malati. Deepika Padukone plays Malti. This sensitive story will hurt you, but in the end, you will feel proud,
not a tear in your eyes.
As the narrative selects a non-linear road, we first meet Malti when she is on a profession hunt- consciously
trying to move on from the feeling disfigures that the hateful crime "ve left" her with. For the physical
disfigures, she has to go through many involved surgeries. In detail, far away from the dreams, she harboured
of being a singer, her life is now an intersection of her work with an NGO for acid preys, her several surgeries
and her court cases. Yet, the cinema controls away from melodrama or manipulation and instead demonstrates
us a compelling protagonist whose solve to fight punctuated with her resolved smiles, the sting in her eyes and
her indomitable spirit.
Also, people say that those who are opposing it are wrong. The film should be supported and watch the movie
which shows a lot about the society.
Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone's film Chhapak is doing well in theatres. There is much ruckus about the
movie before the film's release. In which many people were appealing to boycott the film. Actually, after the
Deepak Padukone's JNU visit, Chhapak also came in the news. However, now people returning from watching
the film are praising the film.
The reviews of the film coming on social media seem positive. And the story of the film is being praised by
the most. At the same time, many people are saying that some other aspects should have been shown in the
story. People are telling heart touching stories and are also praising the direction. Many film critics are
describing the performance of all the characters as good.
