I always knew I was destined for a life of excitement and intrigue. It is the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting. I always knew there was life beyond Africa and my parents encouraged me to explore it. When I was 17 and given the first opportunity for freedom, I took a one-way ticket to London. My parents encouraged me to absorb all facets of London from browsing through the beautiful stores in Chelsea and Bond Street, made me passionate about fashion.
The simple things in life are the most extraordinary things and only the wise can see them. Life is for adventure and such adventure comes rarely. Wherever the heart is, that is where you will find your treasure.
Life is about having courage – flowing with the river when the current says go and swimming against it when your heart is not aligned with the flow. These pure souls are roses and should be kept close to the heart. They keep you grounded when life gets shaky and remind you that there is always a home within their hearts whenever you need it. Life is about love.
Last year I visited New York and became very good friends with a beautiful inspirational woman (a rose in my eyes) – a typical New Yorker she is independent, fun-loving and focused with a heart of 18 karat gold. “She reminded me of the importance of listening to your heart, having faith in the unseen and strength in oneself.
