Sachiin Kumbhaar, a distinguished figure in the entertainment industry, renowned for his charisma, conversational prowess, and impressive portfolio, has taken a significant leap in his career. Known as one of the leading anchors, hosts, moderators, and voice-over artists in India, Sachiin has an enviable client list, including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus Hotstar, and Miss India. Despite his multifaceted talents, acting was an avenue he hadn’t explored, despite encouragement from his peers. However, he is now stepping into the spotlight as the lead in the short film “Tu Chal Main Aaya,” much to the delight of his fans.
The transition to acting wasn’t seamless. Sachiin’s initial foray into acting was marred by racism, which severely impacted his confidence. Reflecting on those early days, Sachiin reveals, “I moved to India around 2011-2012 from Dubai. I came here wanting to become an anchor, voice-over artist, and actor. In 2014, during an audition, I was blatantly told they were looking for a fair individual. This experience shattered my dreams of acting, and I decided to focus on my hosting career. But destiny had other plans.”
It was Kashyap Chandhock, a producer and casting director, who reignited Sachiin’s passion for acting. Sachiin recounts that Kashyap had been encouraging him for years. Last year, Kashyap called and insisted Sachiin give three days for a short film. His unwavering belief in Sachiin was a revelation. That’s how he returned to acting. Playing the lead in this project has been incredibly rewarding for him.
In “Tu Chal Main Aaya,” Sachiin portrays Sanket Patil, a life insurance agent from Nalasopara, Mumbai, far removed from his usual glamorous persona. He is known for his fashionable image, but this character is non-glamorous. Sanket is from a lower-middle-class Maharashtrian family, dreaming of becoming wealthy and owning a bungalow in Mumbai. It’s a role close to Sachiin’s heart because he resonates with the ‘Marathi mulga’ spirit.
