TRUPTI JOSHI’S SECOND SELF: AN EXHIBHITION OF PAINTINGS
Life’s experiences and impressions left by all that happens around us continue to inspire my artistic journey. Trupti Joshi, who hails from Indore, immersed herself in the profession of artistry (painting) twenty years ago. She acquired a Diploma in Fine Arts in Painting from the GIFA, Indore, and continued her journey there. In the two decades since then, Trupti has built up a portfolio of beautiful and thought-provoking works that have been exhibited in galleries around India. She has attended national and international camps as well as a number of prestigious exhibitions. She has learned a lot from her experiences and also holds the view that “Time is the best teacher,” which is evident in her work and her profoundly considered ideas.
“Second Self,” her visual collection, explores how our shadow selves serve as constant reminders of who we are. Our shadow never betrays us, no matter what we do or where we go. They add an aspect to the subject that isn’t already present on an otherwise empty canvas. Sometimes the shadow reflects who we are, which frequently creates an intriguing aspect, representing us in unpredictable ways or strengths in response to a particular circumstance or stimulus. This particular series celebrates a close relationship with
oneself while displaying shapes that are
given extra texture and stroke emphasis. In
this series, pots stand in for people, while
shadows represent their inner selves and best
qualities. Shadows are not “negative space,”
but rather “positive space,” in her paintings.
Her work of art symbolically depicts a visual episode of self-reflection while exploring the space to create the required mood and aesthetics that surround the divine “Self.” A sincere attempt is made to create a mood of mystique with the colours and their shades on every form on the canvas, creating that much-needed visual narration. The textures in the space are important elements that invoke a feeling of mesmerisation. It creates a divine mood of mystique that appears fresh and young in simple metaphorical forms, which adds an aesthetic advantage to his paintings. Her painting is a complete package of grace and serenity that radiates from the choice of her colours. Her subject is ethnic, and her rendering in modern aesthetics gives the right combination of tradition presented in contemporary freedom.
