The Symphony of Duty and Melody
The Journey of PSI Dadasaheb Tukaram Khule

“Khaki Ki Shaan is not just about the uniform—it represents unwavering dedication, relentless perseverance, and a commitment to justice. Behind every police officer, there is a story of struggles, sacrifices, and dreams turned into reality. This series brings forth the inspiring journeys of those who wear the uniform with pride and serve with honor.”
Humble Beginnings and Early Education
Born in the small village of Karole, Pandharpur Taluka, Solapur, my childhood was simple yet filled with dreams that often felt too big. My father, a hardworking farmer, envisioned me in a khaki uniform, a dream that took root in my heart.
I started my education at the local Zilla Parishad (ZP) School and later attended Vidya Vikas Mandir Umbare in Pandharpur from 5th to 10th grade. My higher secondary commerce education took me to Aagashe College in Shreepur, Malshiras, and I later earned a B.Com from Karmveer Bhaurao Patil Mahavidyalaya, Pandharpur. Determined to continue learning, I pursued an M.Com from Yashwantrao Chavan Open University (YCMOU).
The Dream of Khaki
As a child, I admired the discipline and respect that came with the police uniform. However, the real turning point came when I met two guiding lights: Professor Rokade and Prashant Kadam Saheb.
During my graduation, I was an active athlete, excelling in the 800-meter race and winning a silver medal at Solapur University. While training, I saw many peers preparing for police recruitment. One of them, Rokade Sir, later became a Police Sub-Inspector, igniting a fire in me. Around the same time, Prashant Kadam Saheb, then Dy. SP in Pandharpur, left a lasting impression with his poise and encouragement.

The Journey to Becoming a Police Officer
My first attempt at the PSI examination in 2014 fell short. However, failure only strengthened my resolve. I refined my approach and tried again in 2017. The process—from the written exam to the physical test and interview—was rigorous. The results were announced in 2019, and on January 7, 2020, my dream turned into reality when I joined the Maharashtra Police as a PSI. Today, I proudly serve at the Rafi Ahmad Kidwai Marg Police Station in Shivdi, Mumbai.
Overcoming Challenges
Preparing for competitive exams was tough, especially with financial struggles. Living in Pune for studies was difficult, but help came in unexpected ways. Ganesh Ganjve Kaka provided me free accommodation for three years, allowing me to focus on my studies. My brother, Santosh Khule, gave unwavering financial support. Their sacrifices played a crucial role in my success.
Music: My Soul’s Expression
Beyond my police career, I have an enduring passion for the flute. Music has always been a medium of peace and self-expression. Initially self-taught, I later passed an exam in Indian classical music (flute) under Shree Bhumkar Guruji from Pandharpur. My real training began under the mentorship of Shree Paras Nath Guruji in Mumbai, refining my skills further.
Achievements in Music
Music brought me unforgettable experiences. I won a silver medal in the Indian classical flute category at the Solapur University Youth Festival, an honor awarded by renowned Marathi actor Vaibhav Mangle Sir.

One of the most surreal moments was meeting Bollywood star Akshay Kumar. During an event where I played the flute, he appreciated my talent and said, “It’s rare to see an artist who is also an officer.” His words inspire me to balance both professions with passion and dedication.
Balancing Duty and Passion
As a PSI in Mumbai, my work is demanding and full of challenges. Maintaining law and order, ensuring justice, and protecting citizens is an immense responsibility. Yet, amidst the stress of duty, my flute remains my companion, bringing balance to my life.
There is a saying in Marathi: “जीवनात शिस्त महत्वाची आहे, परंतु त्यासोबत कला असेल तर ते अधिक समृद्ध होते.” (Discipline is important in life, but when coupled with art, it becomes even richer.)

I believe one doesn’t have to choose between duty and passion—both can coexist. Every time I play my flute after a long day at work, I feel a renewed sense of peace and purpose.
Message to Aspirants
Hard work never goes to waste; it just requires the right direction and patience. There were moments of doubt, times when financial struggles made things difficult, but perseverance kept me going. Stay focused, seek guidance, and never stop believing in your dreams.
Final Thoughts
My journey from a small village to Mumbai’s police force has been filled with challenges but immensely fulfilling. Whether holding a baton or a flute, my purpose remains the same—to bring harmony, be it in law enforcement or in music.
As I continue to serve, I hope to inspire others to believe in themselves, chase their dreams, and embrace every opportunity life presents.
“Khaki ki shaan, ek jazba hai jo dil se aata hai, aur jab is jazbe ke saath kala judi ho, toh zindagi ek sundar sur ban jati hai.” (The pride of khaki is a passion that comes from the heart, and when blended with art, life becomes a beautiful melody.)
