India Shines At World Squash Asia Qualifier: Anahat, Veer & Tanvi Enter Quarter finals

India’s squash contingent has made a resounding statement at the 2025 World Squash Championships Asia Qualifier in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with three of its brightest stars, Anahat Singh, Veer Chotrani, and Tanvi Khanna, securing their spots in the quarterfinals. Their stellar performances on the opening day have ignited hopes for a strong Indian presence at the prestigious World Championships.

Anahat Singh, India’s top female squash player, showcased her skill during her 3-0 win over Jemyca Aribado of the Phillippines. Anahat’s match lasted only 20 minutes, and she showcased her drive to qualify for the World Championships, which would mark the first in her budding career.

Veer Chotrani didn’t disappoint either, winning in straight games against Ong Sai Hung of Malaysia. Although this match was much closer than the latter, Ver’s India gaining hopes in the men’s singles was bolstered by his commendable grit and skill.

The day was, however, marked by the stellar performance given by the 134th ranked player Tanvi Khanna who pulled off a massive upset against N. Ching Cheng of Hong Kong, the number one seed. In a riveting four-game showdown, Tanvi outlasted her rival with a score of 3-1 showcasing not only her tenacity but a sharp fighting intellect. The victory scores advances her to the quarterfinal, where she will square up against fellow Hongkonger Helen Tang on Friday.

The impressive start by Anahat, Veer, and Tanvi underscores the growing strength and depth of Indian squash on the international stage. Their advancement to the quarterfinals is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the quality of coaching they have received.
