And in the heart of every officer lies a commitment to serve and protect, a dedication that knows no bounds.

Within the heart of rustic India, in the midst of the areas of Dhairi village, a legend emerged, born not with a silver spoon, but with coarseness and determination. Ajay Raykar’s journey from a humble farmer’s house to the corridors of law enforcement is a glistening example of versatility and aspiration. 

Raised within the rural simplicity of Haveli taluka, Pune area, Ajay’s early education was completed in the local Zilla Parishad and Ryot Shikshan Sanstha schools. In spite of monetary imperatives, he sought after his graduation in Commerce from Sir Parashuram Bhau College, Tilak Road, Pune City, drudging as an agrarian labourer to finance his studies. 

Ajay’s path veered when he set his sights on the police force, a dream he chased with unflinching focus. Without the bolster of coaching classes or coaches, he handled the Maharashtra State Public Service Commission exams, overcoming each obstacle with sheer perseverance. 

Question: Can you tell us about your role as a Sub-Inspector of Police?

Answer: Certainly. As a Sub-Inspector of Police, I find my purpose in serving the marginalized, ensuring and empowering the weakest links in society. Beyond just wearing the badge, I commit myself to elevating my hometown, offering direction and monetary help to aspiring students and supporting the underprivileged. In each interaction, I strive to instill a sense of safety and trust within the community, believing that everyone deserves a chance to thrive.

Question: How do you contribute to maintaining safety in Mumbai, especially concerning cyber threats?

Answer: In the bustling lanes of Mumbai, where cyber threats loom large, I stand as a careful gatekeeper, cautioning citizens against the risks of online extortion. My proactive approach reflects my ethos of defending not just lives, but also livelihoods, urging caution within the advanced domain. I aim to arm individuals with the knowledge and tools to navigate the digital landscape safely.

Question: Can you elaborate on your initiatives within the Cuffe Parade police station area?

Answer: Certainly. I’ve been stationed at Cuffe Parade police station in South Mumbai for the last three years. The area has a significant number of slum dwellers, grappling with issues of illiteracy and unemployment. To address these challenges, we organize seminars on online fraud awareness at the police station level. Additionally, initiatives like the Nirbhaya City Project, under the guidance of the Hon’ble Commissioner of Police, Mumbai City, aim to ensure the safety of women and children. By fostering partnerships with local organizations and community leaders, we strive to create a safer and more inclusive environment for all residents.

Question: What are your future plans in terms of law enforcement and community support?

Answer: In the future, we’re gearing up to take appropriate steps regarding cyber security and crimes against children and women. Furthermore, I’m deeply involved in supporting the handicapped. We’re actively collaborating with organisations like the Handicap Foundation to provide assistance and support to those in need. By continuing to listen to the needs of the community and adapting to the ever-evolving challenges, I aim to make a lasting impact in the lives of those I serve.
