Aarushi Nishank: Leading with Grace
“Art, activism, and entrepreneurship are not separate paths; they are threads woven together in my journey to create impact.”~Aarushi Nishank

In a world where most individuals choose one path, Aarushi Nishank stands as a testament to the power of versatility. A Kathak dancer, actor, film producer, environmentalist, TEDx speaker, and social activist, Aarushi seamlessly blends art with purpose. Her journey, spanning multiple disciplines, has positioned her as a leader in environmental conservation, women’s empowerment, and cultural preservation.
From the Stage to the Silver Screen
Under the guidance of Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj, Aarushi is now an accomplished Kathak dancer with extensive touring experience of over 15 countries. She is a registered artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and an established grade performer of Doordarshan television. This was followed by her popular songs Jo Tumko Jhooth Lage and Teri Galiyon Se, which further widened her recognition in the entertainment industry.
Aarushi’s next moves are her anticipated Bollywood debut in Tarini, a biopic about a remarkable 254-day circumnavigation voyage by six women naval officers. In addition to acting, she has also taken up the role of producer, using her creative insight to shape the film’s vision alongside Dr Kumar Vishwas. Moreover, she will appear in a new bilingual project and has further deals with Zee Music and other prominent OTT platforms in the pipeline.
Unifying Art with Environmental Advocacy
Aarushi’s passion extends far beyond cinema. She is the national convener of Sparsh Ganga, an initiative launched in 2008 to protect and restore the Ganga River. The campaign, which has garnered support from public figures like Hema Malini, actively promotes sustainable practices, such as creating incense sticks and organic compost from temple flower waste. In 2019, she initiated Selfie with My Sparsh Tree, a large-scale afforestation drive, mobilizing students and volunteers to plant over two lakh trees.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Aarushi spearheaded Sparsh Ganga’s effort to create more than two lakh khadi masks for soldiers and the community. She also advocated for job creation for women through sustainable initiatives, strengthening the concepts of a circular economy. Acknowledged for her efforts in social and environmental initiatives, she was highlighted in Forbes Middle East and led the International Women Empowerment Program (IWEP) in Dubai.
A Global Advocate for Women Empowerment
Aarushi Nishank champions women’s empowerment globally, chairing IWEP in Dubai and supporting skill development in Uttarakhand. She actively promotes Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and was recognized by Forbes Middle East as a Power Woman. Through activism, entrepreneurship, and art, she inspires meaningful societal change beyond personal success.
Entrepreneurship and Film Production
As the founder of Himshrri Films, Aarushi is committed to storytelling that inspires change. Her debut production, Major Nirala, was an adaptation of her father Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal’s novel. Since then, she has produced various projects, including an ad campaign for Patanjali Group. She also produced JioHotstar’s popular web show Life Hill Gayi, featuring Kusha Kapila, Divyenndu, and others. Through her work, she continues to explore new narratives while using cinema as a medium for social reform.
Balancing Art, Academia, and Social Impact
Aarushi places education at the forefront, even with her hectic schedule. She possesses a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (with Honors in Philosophy) from Banasthali Vidyapeeth, an MBA specializing in Human Resource Management from IMS University, Dehradun, and a Diploma in International Business from the University of Cambridge, Toronto. She is presently working towards a PhD in Human Resource Management. Her philosophy is simple: “I have enrolled myself in the school of life, and each day brings a new lesson. Whether it’s emotional, financial, or mental growth, I constantly seek challenges that push me beyond my limits.”
